Columbia Design League's The Public Restroom: Fear, Decency and Design

Selected date

Wednesday November 7

Selected time

6:00 PM  –  8:30 PM

Harvey Molotch, a professor of sociology and metropolitan studies at NYU and co-editor of the book "Toilet: Public Restrooms and the Politics of Sharing," has a beef with American public bathrooms — the physical design often makes an important everyday experience exceedingly uncomfortable.

Join us to learn about historical and contemporary public restroom design and how it reflects persistent cultural attitudes toward three key aspects of life: gender, class and disability.

The meeting will begin with a social hour at 6:00 p.m. and the lecture will begin at approximately 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments, and beer and wine will be served. Attendance is free for current members and $10 for nonmembers. Please RSVP to attend.

Members: Please add the member ticket to your cart, then sign in using the link in the top right corner. The member discount will be subtracted once you have signed in.
