In 1960, urban activist Jane Jacobs penned “The Death and Life of Great American Cities” — a book that both explored how modern cities were being developed and detailed the consequences of urban renewal. The Citizen Jane documentary retraces her battles during the mid century urbanization of New York City and examines the cities of today through the lens of one of its greatest champions. The film is presented by the Columbia Design League and will be introduced by City of Columbia preservation staff. Light refreshments and cash bar. Free, but please RSVP to attend.
