Baker & Baker presents Imagining the Masters with The Noel Freidline Trio & Charlotte String Quartet

The Noel Freidline Trio welcomes the Charlotte String Quartet to present an evening of some of classical music’s great symphonic works, reinterpreted and re-imagined through the ears of a classical string quartet and a jazz piano trio.  Commissioned by author and curator Martin McFie, Noel Freidline has taken several great classical themes and reworked them to the sensitivity and flexibility of a string quartet.  He then wove a jazz piano trio through these great works, creating a reunion of classical and jazz 200 years in the making. 

Works include Beethoven’s 5^th Symphony, Vivaldi’s “Spring,” Barber’s “Adagio for Strings,” and “Canon Over the Rainbow,” a clever fusion of Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” with Harold Arlen’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.
