Hand Building Basics

In this workshop, students will use slab construction methods to make a variety of functional ceramics. Surfaces will be embellished with texture and glaze, all while taking inspiration from the CMA collection galleries. Ages 15 and up. All materials and equipment provided. Taught by art educator Blakely Sheely. Sheely earned a BFA from Winthrop University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lander University. She is a National Board Certified 3D art educator at Dutch Fork High School, where she has taught sculpture for 10 years. Sheely is a working artist in fiber, metals, ceramics, and jewelry.
